Prof. Francesca Maria Marchetti completed her PhD in 2002 at the Scuola Normale Superiore di Pisa. From 2002 to 2008, she was in research-only roles, primarily supported by two prestigious UK independent fellowships: the EPSRC Postdoctoral Fellowship at the University of Cambridge and the EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship at the University of Oxford. In 2008, she was awarded the Spanish five-year tenure-track Ramón y Cajal Fellowship at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM). At the end of this fellowship, she was promoted to Associate Professor in the Theory of Condensed Matter Department. In 2015, she joined the newly founded Excellence Research Unit IFIMAC-Condensed Matter Physics Center, and since 2023, she has held the position of “Profesor Titular” at UAM.
