The best ideas come from diversity

ABOUT ATOM*INNEN

The name "atom*innen" was selected not only because "atom" is linked to quantum concepts, but also because "*innen" in the German language is inclusive of all genders, aligning with our platform's commitment to inclusivity.

Many studies have shown that having a diverse team has a positive impact on innovation. While gender diversity seems to have gained ground - Austria has indeed the highest rise in the share of female professors in the EU (Gender Equality in Science and Research in Austria, Federal Ministry Republic of Austria, 2018) – there is still a long way to go to reach gender equality. In Europe, women represent barely 30% of the bachelor students in physical sciences and they only account for 26% of doctoral graduates (Eurostat, 2019).

With atom*innen we intend to contribute in making the change. The idea is to promote quantum physics as a safe and inclusive environment, devoid of gender bias. atom*innen, more than a platform, is therefore meant to be a community. You will find in this plateform information on amazing women working in quantum and their career paths. Because we believe that role models are important to better make decisions about your own career. In those pages, you will also come across significant news for women in quantum physics. Last but not least, we look forward to welcoming you to our various events!

ATOM*INNEN TEAM

atom*innen’s team work together to make women in quantum physics more visible and to develop a network they can rely on. We want to highlight the progress for gender equality in physics, and to give it an impulse to go even further.

ATOM*INNEN ADVISORY BOARD

atom*innen’s advisory board are women from different background who advise us on the direction to take. All from quantum physics, their expertise is essential for us to move forward.
