Professor Palacios leads research at the frontier of ultrafast quantum science, developing ab initio computational methods for attosecond science. Born and trained in Spain, after she earned her PhD with distinction (UAM, 2006), moved for a postdoctoral fellowship at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (California, USA, 2006-2009). Back in Spain, she built her career through competitive fellowships — including a Marie Curie Integration Grant — before joining the UAM faculty permanently. Her commitment to the scientific community encompasses positions as Chair of the Atomic, Molecular and Optical Physics Division of the European Physical Society (2022–25), editorial boards of Communications Physics (Nature Group) and Journal of Physics B, and coordination of international schools and conferences in her field. She received the Mildred Dresselhaus Junior Award from Hamburg University in 2018. She has supervised 8 doctoral theses, all awarded with the highest distinction, and coordinated a network of 14 Spanish universities through the Master in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modelling, and participated in active European Research and Doctoral Networks.
