Short bio
Laura García-Álvarez holds a Ph.D. in Physics and has been a researcher at Chalmers University of Technology and the Wallenberg Centre for Quantum Technology (WACQT) since 2018. Her research focuses on quantum algorithms, analog quantum simulation, and quantum machine learning for current and near-term quantum technologies. Through collaborations with industry and academia, she studies quantum methods for scientifically and industrially relevant problems. She is particularly motivated by the question of whether quantum algorithms that can be implemented on near-term hardware can ultimately provide a practical advantage over classical methods. She is also interested in early fault-tolerant quantum computing and the opportunities that error-corrected quantum devices may create for practical applications.
