Elvira Romera is a professor on Nuclear, Molecular and Atomic Physics at the University of Granada, where she got her degree and PhD in Physics. She has broad experience in teaching, research and management, carried out in the last 30 years (since 1992). 

Regarding her research activity, it can be highlighted that she has published around a hundred papers, most of them having been published in JCR journals. She has attended over forty international conferences. She has taken part in twenty-eight research projects on a local, national and European level, being the project leader in nine of them.  

She has been the director of the Carlos I Research Institute on Computational and Theoretical Physics (2014-2019), having previously acted as its secretary (2004-2014). She participated as  a member of the Governing Council, the University Senate, the Research Commission at the University of Granada, and as a member of the PAIDI Advisory Committee in the Andalusian Government. She was also a member of the Science Faculty Board at the University of Granada and has taken part in the Governing Council and in several delegated commissions of the Nuclear, Molecular and Atomic Physics Department.

Elvira Romera is a  Commissioner of the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council (CSN) (since April 2019). As a commisioner, some of the activities carried out have been the following. Since that same year, she has been the president of the R&D Spanish Platform on Radiological Protection. She has taken part, as a CSN Commissioner, in several IAEA meetings. She is chair of the CSN-ENUSA  and CSN-IFMIF DONES liaison committees, and she is vice-chair of the  CSN-CIEMAT committee. She has coordinated the 2020 National Report on the Directive 2014/87/EURATOM implementation.
