Claire Edmunds (she/her) works as a quantum physics postdoctoral researcher at the University of Innsbruck, Austria. She completed her PhD at the University of Sydney, Australia, where she developed routines to characterise noise affecting quantum devices, and demonstrated control techniques that improve the robustness of qubits and quantum algorithms to such noise. Following her PhD, Claire was awarded an Erwin Schrödinger Center for Quantum Science & Technology (ESQ) fellowship from the Austrian Academy of Science, allowing her to move to Innsbruck to continue her research.
In addition to research, Claire is passionate about scientific outreach and communication, particularly aimed towards young girls and women. She has spoken at numerous public engagement events, volunteered at workshops designed to teach people about science and engineering, and mentored physics undergraduate students.
