Helene (she/her) has been working in the field of quantum information science since 2016. For her Master’s thesis she contributed to an experimental system for creating entanglement between trapped ions and photons that are sent over practical distances to build large-scale quantum networks. Her PhD work was set in the context of quantum simulation, where she developed and a new ion-trap quantum simulator with the aim to carry out simulations beyond the capabilities of classical computers. Here, she also carried out experiments in the context of quantum sensing, where quantum correlations within a system of up to 100 ions were harnessed to improve measurement precision beyond classical limits.
Since completing her PhD, Helene has joined the University of Vienna as a knowledge broker, to support the translation of quantum research into industry and society.
